The Pooram festival is an annual event at the Edappavur Bhagavathy Temple.
It is believed that the Mother Goddess, who is the presiding deity of the shrine visits all the houses in the region at the time of the festival. A large crowd throngs the temple to worship the Goddess and seek her blessings for well being and spiritual upliftment.

The festival takes place in the small hamlet of Edappavur
on the banks of river Pampa. Hundreds of devotees
gather to witness the annual Pooram festivities. The deity
is taken out in a ceremonial procession called
Ezhunnellathu in a decorated palanquin type carriage
known as Jeevatha to the adjoining Durga Temple at
forenoon. The procession, called Jeevatha Ezhunnellathu
is taken out to the accompaniments of Vanchippattu,
Panchavadyam, Ammankudom and Pamba-melam. The
annual festival at the Bhagavathy temple will come to a
close with the Arat ceremony to be held at the nearby
Peroor Mahadevar Temple Ghats.
