ഉത്രം മഹോത്സവം 2026 പന്തലം വലിയകോയിക്കൽ ശ്രീ ധർമ്മശാസ്ത്ര ക്ഷേത്രം പത്തനംതിട്ട | Uthram Mahotsavam 2026 Pandalam Valiya Koyikkal Sri Dharma Sastha Temple Pathanamthitta
Uthram Mahotsavam 2026 at Pandalam Valiya Koyikkal Sri Dharma Sastha Temple is one of the most revered annual festivals in Pathanamthitta, Kerala celebrated with great devotion, traditional rituals and cultural grandeur.
This festival honors Lord Dharma Sastha widely worshipped as Ayyappa and attracts devotees from across the state and beyond. The festival is marked by a series of sacred poojas, homams, and ceremonial offerings performed with precision and devotion according to the temple traditions.
The celebrations begin in the early hours with the Palli Unarthal, the ritual awakening of the deity followed by Nirmalyadarshanam and Ashtabhishekam, a special ablution ritual using eight sacred substances. The Ashtadravya Ganapathi Homam is performed to invoke the blessings of Lord Ganesha for the successful completion of the festival.
One of the highlights of the Mahotsavam is the Thrivabharanam Ezunnellathu, the procession of sacred temple ornaments from the palace to the temple which is accompanied by traditional music, drums and the chanting of mantras creating a spiritually uplifting atmosphere for all attendees.
Throughout the day, devotees witness Kalabhishekam, Navakam, Marappani and Kalashapooja along with performances of Sopanageetham, Velakali and Kalamezhuthu—the floor art dedicated to the deity. Devotional singing sessions, bhajans and the recital of sacred texts further enhance the spiritual ambience. The festival also includes the offering of Uthrasadya, a grand feast served to devotees symbolizing community bonding and devotion.
In the evening, the rituals continue with the display of lamps, more devotional music and the ceremonial call leading to the Manikandan Ezunnellathu procession. The festival concludes with the distribution of prasadam, Harivarasanam and Nadayadakkal marking a spiritually enriching end to the celebrations.
