The Shrimad Bhagavata Sapthaha Jnana Yajnam and Meenabharani Mahotsavam at Pallimukkathu Devi Temple in Pathanamthitta district is a significant spiritual and cultural celebration that attracts devotees from nearby villages and different parts of the region.
This sacred festival is deeply rooted in the devotional traditions of the temple and reflects the rich spiritual heritage associated with the worship of the Divine Mother.
The Shrimad Bhagavata Sapthaha Jnana Yajnam is a week long spiritual event centered on the recitation and explanation of the Shrimad Bhagavatam, one of the most revered scriptures in Hindu philosophy. Learned scholars and spiritual speakers lead the Bhagavata Parayanam narrating the divine stories of Lord Vishnu and his various incarnations such as Krishna, Rama, Narasimha and others. These sessions are attended by large numbers of devotees who gather to listen, meditate and experience the spiritual knowledge contained in the sacred text. The yajnam is conducted with traditional rituals, prayers and devotional chanting creating a serene and spiritually uplifting atmosphere within the temple premises.
Alongside the Sapthaha Yajnam, the temple celebrates the vibrant Meenabharani Mahotsavam, an important annual festival dedicated to the presiding deity, Pallimukkathamma. The festival includes special poojas, deeparadhana, traditional temple rituals and devotional offerings by devotees. Cultural and spiritual programs such as bhajans, classical dance performances and religious discourses are also organized making the festival a blend of devotion, culture and community participation.
