Padayani Mahotsavam at Kadalimangalam Devi Temple is one of the most vibrant and culturally rich festivals in Kerala celebrated with immense devotion and artistic grandeur.
Held at the revered Kadalimangalam Devi Temple in Pathanamthitta, this festival is dedicated to Goddess Bhadrakali and showcases the unique traditional art form of Padayani, a ritualistic dance drama performed to appease the divine and ward off negative energies.
The festival is renowned for its spectacular Kolam performances which are elaborate masked dances depicting divine and mythological characters. Devotees and artists present a variety of Kolam including Gandharva Kolam, Kalayakshi Kolam, Shiva Kolam, Panchakolams,and Bhairavi Kolam, each representing distinct stories and symbolisms from Hindu mythology. Among these, the Kalayakshi Kolam, performed with fiery energy is a crowd favorite symbolizing the power of the goddess as she emerges through the flames mesmerizing spectators with its intensity.
The celebrations at Kadalimangalam Devi Temple are not just performances but deeply spiritual rituals.
