Neeranjanam is one of the most revered and spiritually significant festivals celebrated at Pullad Kurungazhakavu Sree Dharmasastha Temple in Pathanamthitta. The festival is a vibrant expression of devotion, spirituality and cultural heritage drawing devotees from across Kerala and beyond.
At the heart of the celebration is Lord Dharma Shastha, the presiding deity of the temple who is revered as the supreme guardian and protector of the Pullad region. Devotees gather to offer their prayers and participate in sacred rituals that uphold the timeless Dharma principles, emphasizing spiritual insight, moral conduct and harmony with nature and all living beings.
During Neeranjanam, the temple becomes a hub of divine energy with rituals led by learned priests and the temple administration. Alongside Lord Dharma Shastha, the cosmic energy of Goddess Annapoorneshwari and other deities are honored through elaborate ceremonies.
The festival includes the performance of the Dashavatara chart celebrating the ten incarnations of Lord Mahavishnu which is a major spiritual highlight for devotees. Various poojas, homams and offerings such as the Ashtadravya Ganapathi Homam and Udayasthamana Pooja are conducted to invoke divine blessings for prosperity, health, and well-being.
In addition to the sacred rituals, Neeranjanam is marked by a rich cultural program featuring traditional music, dance and art forms, reflecting Kerala’s vibrant heritage. Devotees also partake in communal offerings like Annadanam, ensuring that all participants experience both spiritual upliftment and communal harmony. The festival is a unique blend of devotion, artistry and tradition creating an atmosphere of divine celebration that inspires faith, discipline and collective participation. Every year, the temple administration and devotees work together, offering sincere help, presence, and cooperation to make Neeranjanam a complete spiritual and cultural success reinforcing the temple’s role as a beacon of faith and community devotion.
