The Ayroor Puthiyakavu Devi Temple is a Hindu temple near Ayroor, a village in Pathanamthitta District. The temple is on the left bank of the Pampa River. The sacred jewels of Ayyappan (Thiruvabharanam) are taken in procession to Sabarimalai each year from Pandalam, and Ayroor Temple is one of the stops on the way during the Mandala season (late December). The Makara Bharani festival is celebrated for ten days.The Makara Bharani festival celebrated for ten days is associated with the Mahabhagavatha Yanja. Bhagavatha chanting is done ritualistically with worship incarnations of Lord Vishnu. This is also known as Dasavatharapooja. Palliyunarthal, Utsavabali, Deeparadhana and religious speeches are organized on all days.

Sarvaiswarya Pooja,Kazhcha Sreeballi, Seva are the other programs.Avabhrutha Snanakhoshaytra is an important ritual on the 7th day. The 9th day witnesses the Pallivetta. The festival ends with Arattu on the tenth day. The utsava murti of the deity is taken out of the shrine for ritual bathing on the final day. Caparisoned elephants and melam are part of the ritual.
