Rohini Thirunal Mahotsavam at Kavummuriyil Sri Bhagavathi Temple in Pathanamthitta is a vibrant and spiritually uplifting festival that reflects the deep rooted traditions and cultural richness of Kerala’s temple heritage.
Dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathi, the festival is observed with great devotion by devotees from nearby regions and beyond creating an atmosphere filled with faith, unity, and celebration.
The festival begins with traditional temple rituals such as Palliyunarthal followed by Nirmalyam, Abhishekam and Ganapathi Homam. Special poojas are conducted throughout the festival invoking divine blessings for prosperity, protection and well being. One of the major highlights of the celebration is the sacred Karthika Pongala, where women devotees prepare offerings in earthen pots as an expression of devotion and gratitude to the Goddess. Another significant ritual is Noorumpaal performed at the temple premises believed to bring peace and spiritual purification.
The temple premises come alive with devotional activities like Akhanda Nama Japam, continuous chanting of sacred hymns and ceremonial offerings such as Para and Tharpanam.
