The main deity is Lord Shiva, worshipped in traditional Kerala style, while Lord Ganapathy and Goddess Bhadrakali are honored as important sub-deities in the temple complex.

Rooted deeply in local tradition, the temple is maintained by the community, hosting regular poojas and seasonal festivals that unite devotees for spiritual and cultural celebrations.
Festivals
The Temple has a number of festivals. The important ones are :
Makam Thirunal Mahotsavam
Makam Thirunal Mahotsavam at Seethathode Kottappara Sree Mahadeva Temple is a vibrant annual celebration held during the Malayalam month of Meenam (usually March). The festival begins with the sacred Thrikkodiyettu (flag hoisting) and includes various rituals and cultural events such as Thalapoli (procession of women carrying lamps and plates of flowers), Ghoshayatra (ceremonial procession with musical accompaniments), and Pushpabhishekam (ritualistic showering of flowers on the deity). The festival culminates with the Arattu (holy bath of the deity), symbolizing spiritual purification and divine blessings.
Karkkidaka Vavu
Karkkidaka Vavu is observed with deep reverence following Kerala's ritual traditions. On this sacred new-moon day of the Malayalam month of Karkkidakam (July-August), devotees perform Pithru Pooja, Bali Tharpanam, and Thila Homam to honor and appease their ancestors.
