The ancient Parakulam Shiva Temple, nestled within the forested area of Pathanamthitta district in Kerala, boasts a rich history spanning over 750 years. This secluded temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, featuring a revered Shivlinga as the primary deity, symbolizing the infinite nature of Shiva.
Additionally, the temple houses an idol of Nandikesha, the sacred bull and vehicle of Lord Shiva, who is worshipped with great devotion as the guardian of the temple.

The Temple has a number of festivals. The important ones are :
Maha Shivaratri
It marks the night when Shiva performed the cosmic dance, Tandava, and is believed to be the night of convergence of Shiva and Shakti.
Pradosham
Pradosham is observed bi-monthly on the 13th day of every lunar fortnight. It is a period dedicated to the worship of Lord Shiva and is believed to be the time when Shiva dances in the heavens.
