The temple is dedicated to Goddess Bhadrakali.The temple's origin is tied to a legend where blood started gushing out from a stone used by local women to sharpen their sickles, recognized as a self-sufficient deity image of Bhadrakali.
Perakatu Poti confirmed the deity and suggested making offerings, leading to the establishment of the temple.

Uchabali Maholsavam
The Uchabali Maholsavam held in the month of Kumbham begins with the ritual of Thrikkodiyettu, marking the start of the festival. A significant part of the celebrations is Mudi Ezhunnallathu, where the Mudi is carried in a grand procession from the Mudippura to the main temple. The festival's main ritual, symbolizing the killing of the demon Darika, takes place at midnight, drawing numerous devotees.
Karthika Pongala Festival
During the month of Vrischikam, the Karthika Pongala festival is celebrated with great fervor. Devotees prepare a special offering called Pongala, which is cooked in earthen pots and offered to the deity. In the evening, the temple premises are illuminated with Karthika Vilakku, a beautiful display of oil lamps, adding to the festive atmosphere.
