Annual Festival

The annual Kumbha Bharani festival at the Koodal Sreedevi Temple is renowned for its grand procession featuring caparisoned elephants and Kala, which are huge effigies of decorated twin oxen. The celebration includes the traditional Thalappoli, where women carry lamps in a ceremonial procession. The festival is marked by elaborate pujas and rituals, attracting numerous devotees.

Karthika Pongala

Karthika Pongala is a significant ritual observed during the month of Makaram. This auspicious event involves women devotees preparing a special offering called pongala (a sweet dish made of rice, jaggery, and coconut) in makeshift hearths around the temple. The offering is made to seek the blessings of the Goddess Sreedevi, and it symbolizes devotion and community participation, with thousands of women coming together to cook and pray.
