Kaviyoor Mahadevar Temple Pathanamthitta

Kaviyoor Mahadevar Temple, commonly known as Thrikkaviyoor Mahadeva Temple, is one of the important Shiva temples in Kerala, located in Kaviyoor, Tiruvalla in the Pathanamthitta District.

The main deity of the temple is Lord Mahadeva (Shiva), who is worshipped along with Goddess Parvati, known as Sreemoolarajeswari. The Shivalinga here is believed to be made of sand and darbha grass.

According to the dhyanasloka, Lord Shiva at this temple is depicted in a pleasant form, sitting in the lotus position (padmasana), embracing Goddess Parvati with his left hand and surrounded by his sons Ganapathi and Subrahmanya. The temple complex also houses a well-known Hanuman temple.

Hanumad Jayanthi

Hanumad Jayanthi at Kaviyoor Mahadevar Temple is celebrated with great devotion and enthusiasm. The festival honors Lord Hanuman, whose temple is situated within the temple complex. Devotees participate in special poojas, rituals, and offerings to seek blessings from Lord Hanuman for strength and protection.

Shivaratri Maholsavam

Shivaratri Maholsavam at Kaviyoor Mahadevar Temple in Kumbham is a significant event marked by elaborate rituals and ceremonies. Devotees gather to offer prayers, participate in the night-long vigil, and perform abhishekam to the Shivalinga, which is made of sand and darbha grass. The temple premises are beautifully decorated, and the celebrations include cultural programs and spiritual discourses, attracting a large number of devotees seeking Lord Shiva's blessings.
