Bharani Mahotsavam at Sree Thiruvallayanad Bhagavathy Temple, Palakkad is one of the most vibrant and culturally rich temple festivals in Kerala. Celebrated with devotion and grandeur, the festival honors the goddess Bhagavathy and showcases a unique blend of traditional rituals, performing arts and folk culture.
The festival features Tholpavakoothu, the ancient shadow puppetry art mesmerizing devotional music sessions and Bhajanamritham where devotees gather for collective singing and prayers. Cultural performances include classical and folk dances, Thayambaka percussion ensembles, Ottanthullal and Kaikottikali creating a spectacular atmosphere that attracts devotees from across the region.
Daily rituals and offerings form the spiritual core of the festival while grand processions such as Valia Arattu and Koottu Vilakku highlight the celebratory grandeur. Folk art forms like Thira, Poothan, Kali and Kuthira add vibrancy and preserve the traditional heritage of Kerala.
