Shuddhikalasha Chadangukal & Vadakke Gopurathinte Kattilaveppu at Sree Vadakkemuthassiyarkavu Temple is a grand and spiritually significant celebration that draws devotees from across Kerala and beyond. The festival is centered around sacred purification rituals and the ceremonial installation of the northern gopuram door frame symbolizing the completion and sanctification of temple structures.
These ceremonies are performed under the guidance of the temple Tantri ensuring that every ritual adheres strictly to traditional tantric practices enhancing the spiritual ambiance of the temple.
The Shuddhikalasha Chadangukal is a series of purification rituals conducted with sacred substances in the presence of the divine aimed at cleansing the temple space and invoking the blessings of the Goddess. These rituals include precise offerings, homams and abhishekams, performed by highly trained priests and are believed to enhance the divine energy of the temple, purify the surroundings and foster spiritual well-being among devotees.
The festival also includes Vadakke Gopurathinte Kattilaveppu which is the installation of the door frame of the northern gopuram, a significant architectural and religious event. This ceremony marks the consecration of the temple’s northern entrance symbolizing protection, prosperity and the welcoming of divine energies into the temple premises. Devotees have the rare opportunity to witness and participate in these sacred events, offering prayers, lighting traditional lamps and presenting offerings as part of the ritualistic practices.
In addition to the core rituals, the festival features several other spiritual ceremonies such as Vastu homams, Brahma Kalashams, Ganapathi Homams and Sarvaishwarya Pooja, all designed to ensure harmony, remove obstacles and enhance the overall spiritual potency of the temple.
