ചിനക്കത്തൂർ പൂരം 2026 ശ്രീ ചിനക്കത്തൂർ ഭഗവതി ക്ഷേത്രം പാലക്കാട് | Chinakkathoor Pooram 2026 Sree Chinakkathoor Bhagavathi Temple Palakkad
Chinakkathoor Pooram is one of the most celebrated and culturally significant temple festivals of Palakkad district held with great devotion and splendour at the Sree Chinakkathoor Bhagavathi Temple. Deeply rooted in the traditions and agrarian life of the region this festival marks an important period of communal harmony, spiritual renewal, and cultural expression. The celebrations attract thousands of devotees, art lovers and visitors who gather to witness a unique blend of ritual practices and vibrant performances.
The temple dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathi becomes the spiritual heart of the region during the Pooram days. In the days leading up to the main festival, various traditional rituals and offerings are conducted, creating an atmosphere of devotion and anticipation. The temple premises are beautifully decorated and ceremonies are performed seeking the blessings of the Goddess for prosperity, good harvest and the overall well being of the land and its people.
A major highlight of the festival is the grand Aanapooram where caparisoned elephants are ceremonially assembled near the temple grounds. The sight of majestic elephants adorned with golden nettipattam, ornamental umbrellas, and traditional regalia is a visual spectacle that reflects the grandeur of Kerala temple festivals. Accompanying the elephant procession are powerful percussion ensembles such as Panchavadyam and Pandimelam, performed by renowned artists filling the surroundings with rhythmic energy and festive fervour.
Chinakkathoor Pooram is also famous for its traditional art forms presented at the temple including Kuthirakali, Ther rituals, Thattinmelkuthu and other folk performances that have been preserved through generations. These art forms not only entertain but also convey stories, beliefs and values deeply embedded in local culture. One of the most thrilling moments of the festival is the Kudamattam, where colorful ceremonial umbrellas are rhythmically exchanged atop elephants symbolizing friendly rivalry and artistic excellence.
