Pariyanampatta Pooram is one of the most vibrant and culturally significant festivals celebrated at Sree Pariyanampatta Bhagavathi Temple in Palakkad, Kerala.
Held annually, this festival draws devotees and tourists from across the state and beyond offering a spectacular display of Kerala’s traditional rituals, music, and art forms. The festival is dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathi and it showcases a perfect blend of spiritual devotion and cultural grandeur.
The celebrations feature a series of rituals, starting with early morning poojas, homams and abhishekams which are performed by the temple priests to invoke the blessings of the deity.
One of the major highlights of Pariyanampatta Pooram is the majestic procession of decorated elephants accompanied by the powerful rhythms of Panchari Melam and other traditional percussion ensembles. The elephants adorned with vibrant ornaments and ceremonial caparisons parade through the temple premises creating an awe inspiring sight for the spectators.
Apart from the elephant procession, the festival includes traditional performances such as Tholpavakoothu, Kalampattu, Ottanthullal and Kaikkottikkali reflecting the rich cultural heritage of Kerala. Devotees also participate in offerings known as Samarpanams which include rice, lamps and other items as a mark of devotion and gratitude to the goddess.
