The Pallavur Navarathri Seventh Day Vilakku Maholsavam 2026 will be celebrated with great devotion at the sacred Thrippallavur Shiva Temple (Thrippallavurappan Temple) on Saturday, 17 October 2026 (1202 Kanni 31). The Seventh Day Vilakku is one of the most significant events of the renowned Pallavur Navarathri festival, attracting thousands of devotees, temple art enthusiasts, and visitors from across Kerala. The festival is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is celebrated with traditional temple rituals, majestic processions, and classical Kerala percussion performances.
The day's celebrations begin early in the morning at 5:00 a.m. with the ceremonial Eeduvedi, followed by the sacred Seeveli at 6:45 a.m. At 7:00 a.m., the deity receives the holy Thirumanjanam. From 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the temple hosts the grand Purappadu, accompanied by traditional Melam and the renowned Panchavadyam, creating a spiritually vibrant atmosphere within the temple premises. The afternoon and evening programmes continue from 3:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., featuring devotional performances and temple rituals. The Deeparadhana is performed between 6:45 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., filling the temple with divine light and devotion. This is followed by a captivating Nadaswaram recital beginning at 7:05 p.m. The cultural programmes become more vibrant during the night. From 8:05 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., devotees can witness the spectacular Thayambaka, Keli, Kombu Pattu, Kuzhal Pattu, and other traditional Kerala temple art forms that showcase the rich percussion heritage of the region. The Athazha Seeveli is conducted between 9:40 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., followed by the majestic Ezhunnallippu from 10:05 p.m. until midnight, bringing the day's celebrations to a grand and devotional conclusion.
Festivals
One of the major attractions of the festival is the grand Panchavadyam, performed by some of Kerala's finest traditional percussion artists. The ensemble features Sri. Peruvanam Satheesan Marar and team on Thimila, Sri. Vaikom Chandran, Sri. Nallepully Kuttan, and Sri. Pallassena Murali on Valanthala, Sri. Kongad Radhakrishnan, Sri. Pallavur Sreedharan and team on Maddalam, along with distinguished performers including Sri. Kallekulangara Krishna Variyar, Sri. Nelluvai Sasi, Sri. Sadhanam Bharatharajan, and Sri. Kayiliadu Babu. The Thalam section is led by Sri. Pallavur Raghavapisharodi, Sri. Panjal Velukutty, Sri. Kadambur Balakrishnan, Sri. Palappuram Rajan, and Sri. Pallavur Ramesh. The Kombu ensemble includes Sri. Trippalur Sivan, Sri. Machadu Padmakumar, Sri. Pallavur Ramachandran, and Sri. Keralasseri Kuttan, while the Kurumkuzhal performance is presented by Sri. Pattikkad Aji and team.
The Seventh Day Vilakku also features a special Thayambaka performance by Kum. Rahitha Krishnadas, while the Janavilakku Day will witness an inspiring Thayambaka by Sri. Pallassena Ranjith Marar. The traditional Edakka recital will be presented by Sri. Pallavur Sreekumar and Sri. Pallavur Adithian, adding another spiritual and musical dimension to the festival.
