Dedicated to Goddess Bhadrakali, locally revered as Manappulli Bhagavathy, this festival stands as a powerful expression of devotion, tradition and community unity.
The celebration begins with the ceremonial Kodiyettam marking the start of a series of sacred rituals and festivities. Throughout the festival period, the temple comes alive with daily poojas, special offerings and devotional activities performed with deep spiritual significance. One of the most important rituals is the Chaandh Abishekam which attracts large numbers of devotees seeking blessings and divine grace.
A unique feature of Manapullikavu Vela is the participation of multiple deshams each organizing their own mini processions known as “velas.” These individual celebrations gradually converge to form a grand and unified spectacle.
