Kavasseri Pooram 2026 is one of the most vibrant and culturally rich temple festivals in Palakkad, Kerala celebrated at the renowned Parakkattu Shree Bhagavathy Temple.Preparations for the Pooram begin well in advance, with the temple and surrounding areas adorned with lights, floral decorations, and specially arranged elephant pavilions. The Lakshadeepam lighting and Koora Yidal ceremonies mark the spiritual beginning of the Pooram while the Valiyandi, Parayeduppu and Desavadhyam rituals showcase the unique musical and processional traditions of the region.

Cultural programs are held daily at the Tarangini Mandapam including dance performances by Harishree Nrithya Kalalayam, folk songs by Gramakala and a Mega Show organized by Team Vadakkans. Elephant processions are an integral highlight, accompanied by Panchavadyam, Pandimelam and other traditional percussion ensembles creating a rhythmic and festive atmosphere. The ceremonial processions of the decorated temple horses and elephants along with the spectacular Sampil Vedi and Ucha Eedu fireworks attract thousands of devotees from surrounding regions. The main day of the festival, 31st March 2026 features elaborate rituals, elephant processions and grand daytime and nighttime fireworks culminating in a visually stunning display of devotion and tradition.
