The Prathishta Dina Mahotsavam at Kanniyamparam Sree Killikulangara Bhagavathi Temple is one of the most significant and spiritually vibrant festivals in the Palakkad region celebrated with deep devotion and grandeur.
This festival marks the consecration of the deity and is an occasion for devotees to come together and seek divine blessings. The temple renowned for its rich cultural heritage and traditional Kerala architecture becomes a center of spiritual activities, rituals and cultural performances during this festival.
The celebrations begin with a series of sacred poojas and homams meticulously conducted by the temple priests. These rituals include the Vishweshwara Pooja, Astra Kalasha Pooja, Rakshoghna Havanam, Vastu Homam and Kalasha Abhishekam, each designed to purify the surroundings invoke divine protection and bless the devotees with prosperity, health and spiritual well being. Special offerings such as Prasada Shuddhi and Athazha Pooja are performed to sanctify the food and ensure the blessings reach all devotees.
An important highlight of the festival is the Ganapathi Homam performed to remove obstacles and ensure the smooth conduct of the rituals. The festival also features elaborate Kalasha Abhishekams where sacred pots filled with holy water and auspicious substances are ceremoniously consecrated.
