The temple is known as Anchumurthy Thattakam and is dedicated to Swayambhu Sivasakthi. It is believed to be thousands of years old.The main deity of the temple is Sri Valayappuly Bhagavathy, who is seated facing north. There are two idols of the goddess one for regular worship and another for poojas. The main offering at the temple is kadu-madhura payasam, a sweet preparation.

Ulsavam
