The deity is believed to be the daughter of Lord Shiva, born from his sacred locks (Jada) during the Dakshayaga. Sree Manappulli Bhagavathi is depicted as black in color with four hands holding Soolam, Kapalam, Gadkam, and Khedam. She has three eyes, four large teeth, wears beautiful garments, numerous ornaments, and rides a ghostly vahana, presenting a fearsome yet radiant appearance.
The Goddess is known for fulfilling the wishes of her devotees, and it is believed that she appears whenever a true devotee calls upon her with genuine devotion. The Sree Manappully Bhagavathy Temple at Yakkara in Palakkad stands as a testament to her power and benevolence, drawing numerous devotees who seek her blessings.

Manapullikavu Vela
Manapullikavu Vela is a festival honoring the deity Sree Manapulli Bhagavathy at Manapullikavu in Palakkad. Celebrated between the last week of February and the first week of March, according to the Malayalam calendar, the festival begins with Kodiyettam, signaling the start of the Vela. Following the Kodiyettam, a week of pooja ceremonies and vibrant cultural programs are organized by the Vela Committee, culminating in the grand celebration of Manapullikavu Vela.
Raavela
Early morning, the Raavela begins, with the highlight being the lighting of the Kambam. The Kambam symbolizes Paramasiva's Jada, and lighting it with Karimarunnu represents Bhadrakali's birth. Following this, Bhagavathy re-enters the temple. The festival concludes with an elephant plucking the Kanyar pole, symbolizing the end of the celebration, followed by Sudhi purification rituals as Bhagavathy returns to her shrine. The Eeduvedi fireworks announce the conclusion of the Vela.
