Kannambra Vela
Kannambra Vela is one of the prominent festivals celebrated at Kannambra Viswanatha Swamy Temple in Puthucode, Palakkad, just before the onset of the monsoon. The festival features a grand procession known as ezhunnallath, where the deity is taken around the temple premises accompanied by the traditional temple orchestra, panchavadyam. The celebrations also include special poojas and rituals, attracting a large number of devotees who come to participate in the vibrant festivities and seek the blessings of Lord Shiva.
Sarpabali
At Kannambra Viswanatha Swamy Temple the ritual of Sarpabali is performed to appease the Ashta Nagas. This ritual is believed to fend off the evil effects of Sarpa dosha and to aid in the recovery from certain illnesses, particularly skin diseases. Devotees participate in this ceremony with the hope of receiving protection and healing from the serpent deities.
