The Utsavam 2026 at Kokkur Sree Mahavishnu Temple, Malappuram, is a highly anticipated annual festival that brings together devotees and locals in a vibrant celebration of devotion, culture and tradition. This auspicious festival scheduled for February 20, 2026 (1201 Kumbham 08, Friday) is organized by the Kokkur Sree Mahavishnu Temple Protection Committee and promises a day filled with elaborate rituals, musical performances and cultural displays.
The festival begins early in the morning with Nirmalyadarshanam allowing devotees to witness the sacred offerings at the temple. This is followed by the Abhishekam a ceremonial bathing of the deity using milk, coconut water and other holy substances, which is accompanied by chanting and devotional prayers. Soon after, the Ganapathi Homam is performed to invoke the blessings of Lord Ganesha for the smooth conduct of the festival. The morning also features floral offerings, milk and jaggery payasam and other sacred offerings making the rituals both spiritually enriching and visually captivating.
The afternoon and evening bring the vibrant energy of the Pooram procession where beautifully adorned elephants participate, accompanied by traditional Panchavadyam ensembles, Thayambaka and Pandimelam performances. Devotional music, folk songs and band performances add to the festive atmosphere, while the Alankara Seva decorates the deity with flowers, silk and sandal paste creating a mesmerizing spectacle for devotees.
The festival concludes with Deeparadhana and the Athazha Pooja followed by a grand fireworks display, symbolizing joy and devotion.
