Ekadashi Utsavam is an annual festival celebrated at the Rama Swamy Temple. Ekadashi is a religiously important day for the worship of Lord Vishnu. Lord Sree Rama, the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu is the presiding deity of the temple.
The temple is one of the oldest in Malappuram district dating back to over 1000 years. The legend associated with this temple is that after living a prosperous life as the ruler of Ayodhya, Lord Rama handed the kingdom and other responsibilities to his sons and left Ayodhya to attain
higher spiritual realms. On reaching this place it is said that he was mesmerized by its natural beauty and the serenity and chose the place for his meditation. Later on a temple dedicated to the Lord was built
here.

Ekadasi Utsavam at this temple falls in Malayalam
calendar month of Kumbham. The festival commences
with the Kodiyettu or flag hoisting at the shrine. There are
numerous vibrant cultural programmes associated with
this festival. Food is served to all devotees on the festival
days (Annadanam). The shrine is traditionally decorated
and special rituals are performed. Thousands of devotees
throng to witness the events and offer prayers to the Lord
The elephant procession and Aarattu (holy bathing)
ceremony on the final day are significant traditional rituals.
