Sree Mannur Shiva temple is one of the oldest Shiva temples in Malappuram district. Utsavam at the temple is an annual affair conducted in the Malayalam calendar month of Dhanu to pay obeisance to Lord Shiva.
The deity of Vettakkorumakan at the shrine is given equal importance and hence the Vettakkorumakan Pattulsavam is also conducted during the eight-day spectacular festival. This temple is one of the rarest Hindu shrines in Kerala with Gajavrishtakrithi (shape of an elephant) construction. The
temple faces east. Lord Ganapathi and Lord Ayyappa are the sub deities.
Utsavam 2025 | Mannoor Shiva Temple Kottapadi Malappuram
The annual festival is celebrated in the Malayalam calendar month of Dhanu and is marked by eight days of festivities. It commences with the Kodiyettu or flag hoisting ceremony. Specials Poojas and rituals are performed to appease and seek the blessings of the Lord. The Vettakkorumakan Pattulsavam is a significant offering performed during the festival. Aarattu or the ritualistic bathing of the deity takes place on the final day to the accompaniment of elephant procession and percussion music. Various traditional performing arts and cultural events are staged during the festivities.
