Legend says that it is one of the Kali temples installed by Parasurama. This temple is more than 1000 years old history. The speciality of this temple is that there is no other sub deities. Only Devi is there. Annual festival of this temple falls in the Malayalam month of Dhanu.
Annual festival is conducted in order to increase the vigour of the deity and to bring prosperity to the entire community.

This is one of the ancient temples in Malappuram district. It is a 2 days wonderful event. There are lots of cultural activities conducted as a part of this festival. Different dance form, music events, koothu, Panchavadya melam all are performed. Thalapoli procession is the major event associated with this festival. Thalapoli is a unique ritual in Kerala. In this ritual, women and young girls carry thalam in there hands. Thalam is filled with rice, flowers and lighted lamp. It is a symbol of prosperity.
