Goddess Bhagavathi is worshipped here as the supreme mother goddess, embodying various forms of feminine energy, including power, strength, and compassion. She is believed to bless her devotees with prosperity, well-being, and spiritual fulfillment.
The temple premises typically consist of the main sanctum sanctorum (Sreekovil), where the idol of Goddess Bhagavathi is enshrined and worshipped with elaborate rituals and offerings. Surrounding the main shrine, there may be additional shrines dedicated to other deities and divine beings.
Festivals
The Temple has a number of festivals. The important ones are :
Navaratri
Navaratri, meaning "nine nights," is a major Hindu festival celebrated over nine days and nights in honor of the divine feminine goddesses, including Goddess Bhagavathi. Each day of Navaratri is dedicated to a different form of the goddess, and various rituals, prayers, and cultural events are held during this auspicious period.
Thrikkarthika
During Thrikkarthika, people decorate their homes and surroundings with traditional oil lamps (deepams) to commemorate the lighting of lamps by Goddess Parvati to celebrate the victory of Lord Shiva over the demon Tripurasura. It is believed that lighting lamps on this day symbolizes the removal of darkness and the triumph of light over darkness, good over evil.
