The main deity of the temple is Lord Shiva, worshipped in the form of Kirata Shiva. Kirata Shiva is depicted as the hunter form of Lord Shiva, as narrated in the Hindu epic, Mahabharata.
The position of Kirata Shiva at Kuttikkulangara and Kadampuzha Bhagavathy facing each other symbolizes the harmonious coexistence of different divine energies within the region.
