Lord Ayyappa, also known as Sree Dharma Sastha or Sastavu, is a revered deity in Hinduism, particularly in the states of Kerala and Tamil Nadu in South India. Mandala Puja
Mandala Puja is one of the most significant festivals celebrated by devotees of Lord Ayyappa, especially those undertaking the pilgrimage to the Sabarimala Temple in Kerala. The festival marks the culmination of the 41-day penance observed by devotees, known as the Mandala Vratham. It begins in the Malayalam month of Vrishchikam (mid-November) and concludes with the Mandala Puja ceremony in the month of Dhanu (mid-December).
Makaravilakku
The festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm and devotion, drawing thousands of devotees to witness the divine spectacle of the Makaravilakku (celestial light) that appears atop the nearby hill of Ponnambalamedu. The Makaravilakku is believed to be a divine manifestation of Lord Ayyappa, symbolizing his presence and blessings.
