Bhagavathy, pamboori karuvan and his friends are the major deities of this temple. Legend says that they came from pambummekavu due to some quarrel. While reaching here they all fell thirsty. They asked for water to the lady of the ancestral home. She gave them milk and fruits. After having it only they realised that she is of low cast. Hence they decided to stay there. Meanwhile Bhagavathy also reached there in search of her sons. After hearing the news she also decided to stay there.

Annual festival of this temple falls in the malayalam month of meenam. It is a 3 days spectacular event. Ritualistic art form vellattu (A form of theyyam not actual one) takes place throughout the day. On the second day morning there are procession from kiliparambu sree krishna swamy temple. After that, from afternoon onwards again vellattu ceremony takes place. Second day night thalapoli is there which attracts thousands of people. Thalapoli is a ritualistic procession of women and young girls holding thalams filled with flowers and a light lamp in there hands. After thalapoli on the final day, Thira (theyyam) takes place which last till next day morning. This festival is conducted to appease the goddess and to bring prosperity to the entire community and the region.
