കോഴിക്കോട് പൊൻവിളി ഗുരുദേവ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠാദിന മഹോത്സവം മാർച്ച്-ഏപ്രിൽ (മീനം) മാസങ്ങളിൽ നടക്കുന്ന 2 ദിവസത്തെ ഉത്സവമാണ്, പവിത്രമായ ആചാരങ്ങളും ഊർജ്ജസ്വലമായ ആഘോഷങ്ങളും ഉൾക്കൊള്ളുന്നു.

Guru and Devi are the main deities. This temple is owned by an ancestral family.
Legend associated with this temple is that centuries before one of the member of this family was an army in chief of samoothiri One day his dress got fired and in order to pull out from fire he jumped into a thali pond. But unfortunately he drowned and dead. He was later placed along with Devi and worshipped as Guru.

Annual festival of this temple falls in the Malayalam month of meenam. It is a 2 days event. The temple and premises are beautifully decorated. There are special poojas and offering on the festival period. Also annadanam is held. Ritualistic vellattu ( a form of theyyam, not the actual one) is performed during these days. Four varieties of vellattu are performed - Guru, Nagakali, Bhairavan and Bhagavathy. By evening around 7 pm thalapoli procession starts from Azhakodi devi temple. It is a ritualistic procession of women and young girls holding thalams filled with flowers and lamp in their hands. After thalapoli, in late night thira, the actual theyyam starts, three varieties of theyyams are performed - Guru, nagakali, Gulikan. This last till next day morning.
