ജനുവരി-ഫെബ്രുവരി (മകരം) മാസങ്ങളിൽ，വർഷവും പളിയാർക്കോട്ട ശ്രീ ഭഗവതി ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ 10 ദിവസമായി ആഘോഷിക്കപ്പെടുന്ന തലപ്പൊള്ളി ഗുരുതി മഹോത്സവം ഭക്തിപൂർവ്വമായ ചടങ്ങുകളോടെയും സാംസ്കാരിക പരിപാടികളോടെയും നടക്കുന്നു.

Paliyar Kotta Shree Bagavathy Temple has 1000 years old history. It is owned by an ancestral family Bhuvaneshwari is the main deity of this temple. Bhadrakali, Gulikan are the sub-deities. Annual festival of the temple falls in the malayalam month of makaram. Annual festival is conducted in order to increase the vigor of the deity.

The annual festival is observed in malayalam month of makaram. The shrine is traditionally decorated with coconut
leaves, flowers, leaves, traditional lamps and lights. Special poojas and offerings take place during festival days. Also annadanam is provided on all days. Thousands of devotees throng to witness the rituals and the number of cultural events staged during these days. Bajans and religious discourses are held there. Spiritual ritual is performed on last day of the festival. On the final day thalappoli procession takes place where women and young girls carry thalam filled with rice, flowers and a lighted lamp in their hands. It is a symbol of prosperity. After that Guruthi ceremony takes place.
