ജനുവരി/ഫെബ്രുവരി (മകരം) മാസങ്ങളിൽ മുട്ടിൽ ഭഗവതി ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ രണ്ട് ദിവസങ്ങളിലായി ആഘോഷിക്കുന്ന തിര മഹോത്സവം, പരമ്പരാഗത ചടങ്ങുകളും സാംസ്കാരിക പരിപാടികളും നിറഞ്ഞ ഒരു വിശേഷാഘോഷമാണ്.

This is a centuries old temple, Bhagavathy is the main deity. Kariyathan, Kuttichathan, Gulikan, Guru, Muthappan, Nagarkali are the sub deities. Thira festival is celebrated here in the Malayalam month of Makaram with much importance. There are six to seven types of Thira (Theyyam) performed during the festival period.
The festival takes place in the Malayalam month of Makaram. It is a 2 days continuous event. Festival starts by special poojas. After that ritualistic Vellattu (a form of Theyyam,not actual one) takes place through out the day. Also Annadanam is held there. Evening thalapoli takes place. Thalapoli is a ritualistic procession of women and young girls holding thalams filled with rice, flowers and a lighted lamp in their hands. After thalapoli, 'Thira(Theyyam)'takes place. There are different varieties of 'thira' performed through out the night and next day morning.
