Vishu, the Malayalam New Year, is celebrated with great enthusiasm at Trikkaiparambu Mahavishnu Temple in Kuttiyadi, Maruthonkara, Kozhikode. Falling in the month of Medam (April), Vishu marks the beginning of the traditional Malayalam calendar year. The festival is marked by the Vishukkani, an arrangement of auspicious items viewed first thing in the morning, along with special prayers and offerings to Lord Vishnu.
