Sree Valayanad Devi Temple is located in Kozhikode city, Kerala on the banks of the Kallayi River near the Valayanad area.

Sree Valayanad Devi Temple is one of the most historic and revered Hindu temples in the region, dedicated to Goddess Durga. The temple is renowned for its spiritual significance, traditional rituals, and vibrant festivals that attract devotees from across Kerala and other parts of India. The temple’s architecture reflects the traditional Kerala style, with sloping tiled roofs, wooden carvings, a sanctum sanctorum, and a serene environment that adds to the spiritual experience of visitors. The most prominent festival celebrated at the temple is the Annual Utsavam, held in the Malayalam month of Makaram. This festival begins with Kodiyettam and continues for several days with elaborate poojas, devotional music, cultural performances, and grand processions. The celebrations culminate in Pallivetta and Arattu drawing large crowds of devotees who participate in the festivities with fervor and devotion. During Navaratri, the temple observes nine days of special poojas and cultural programs, and the Vidyarambham ceremony is conducted, where children are initiated into learning under the blessings of the Goddess.

Another significant observance is Kalamezhuthupattu celebrated during the Mandala season, where devotees create intricate floor drawings called Kalams using natural pigments, accompanied by devotional songs over a period of 41 days. Other important rituals include Chandhattam, Illam Nira, Ramayana Parayanam, Sapthaha Yagnam, and Guruthy Tharpanam which are performed on special days to seek spiritual protection, prosperity and mental peace. The temple’s combination of rich traditions, vibrant festivals and serene ambience makes Sree Valayanad Devi Temple a prominent spiritual and cultural hub, offering devotees an immersive experience of devotion, ritual, and inner tranquility throughout the year.

Navaratri
Devotees participate in special rituals, evening poojas, and cultural programs.

Kalamezhuthupattu
Devotees create intricate floor drawings called Kalams using natural pigments, accompanied by devotional songs and rituals.

Chandhattam
Observed during the Malayalam month of Karkidakam, usually on a Wednesday.
