Sree Valayanad Devi Temple is one of the most historic and revered Hindu temples in the region, dedicated to Goddess Durga. The most prominent festival celebrated at the temple is the Annual Utsavam, held in the Malayalam month of Makaram. This festival begins with Kodiyettam and continues for several days with elaborate poojas, devotional music, cultural performances, and grand processions. The celebrations culminate in Pallivetta and Arattu drawing large crowds of devotees who participate in the festivities with fervor and devotion. During Navaratri, the temple observes nine days of special poojas and cultural programs, and the Vidyarambham ceremony is conducted, where children are initiated into learning under the blessings of the Goddess.
Another significant observance is Kalamezhuthupattu celebrated during the Mandala season, where devotees create intricate floor drawings called Kalams using natural pigments, accompanied by devotional songs over a period of 41 days. Other important rituals include Chandhattam, Illam Nira, Ramayana Parayanam, Sapthaha Yagnam, and Guruthy Tharpanam which are performed on special days to seek spiritual protection, prosperity and mental peace.
