The festival begins with the Kodiyet symbolizing the official commencement of the celebrations. This is followed by a series of sacred rituals conducted in the temple including special poojas and abhishekams to honor Lord Shiva.
The temple premises come alive with the lighting of Valiya Vilakku creating a spiritual and visually stunning ambiance that captivates devotees and visitors alike. One of the most anticipated rituals is the Palli Vetta, a symbolic hunting ceremony that represents the triumph of divine power over evil.
Cultural programs are an integral part of the festival, featuring classical music, traditional dance performances and art forms such as Kathakali and Ottamthullal showcasing the rich heritage of Kerala.
