Thiruvutsavam at Amayannoor Sree Mahadeva Temple is one of the most vibrant and spiritually enriching festivals in Kottayam district, Kerala. Celebrated annually, this festival attracts devotees from across the state and beyond offering them an opportunity to participate in centuries old traditions and rituals dedicated to Lord Shiva.
The festival begins with Kodiyettam a ceremonial inauguration that marks the official commencement of the festivities. During the days that follow, the temple conducts a series of special poojas, abhishekams, and offerings, allowing devotees to seek blessings and spiritual solace. Each day is marked with unique rituals that highlight the deep-rooted traditions of Kerala temple culture.
Alongside the religious observances, Thiruvutsavam is also a celebration of Kerala’s rich cultural heritage. Devotional music, traditional dance performances, and art forms such as Kathakali, Thayambaka, and other percussion ensembles are performed in the temple premises, creating an immersive spiritual and cultural experience.
