പ്രതിഷ്ഠാദിന മഹോത്സവം 2026 പെരുന്ന ശ്രീ സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യ സ്വാമി ക്ഷേത്രം കോട്ടയം | Prathishta Dinam Mahotsavam 2026 Perunna Sree Subramanya Swamy Temple Kottayam
The Prathishta Dinam Mahotsavam at Perunna Sree Subramanya Swamy Temple is one of the most revered and vibrant festivals in Kerala attracting devotees from across the state and beyond. This grand celebration commemorates the consecration or installation of the deity, a sacred event that honors the divine presence of Lord Subramanya and reinforces the spiritual connection of devotees with the temple.
The festival is renowned for its meticulous rituals, traditional Vedic ceremonies and the devotional fervor that permeates the temple grounds during this auspicious time.
Central to the festivities is the Yajurveda Murajapam, a continuous chanting of the Vedas performed by learned priests. This ritual is considered highly sacred and is believed to bring divine blessings, peace and prosperity to all participants. Alongside this, the temple conducts the Sahasrakalashabhishekam, a ceremonial bathing of the deity with a thousand sacred pots filled with holy water and sanctified substances. This is complemented by Kalabhishekam and Chatushshata Nivedyam where offerings are made in precise Vedic traditions symbolizing devotion and gratitude.
A particularly striking feature of the festival is the Mayilvahanam Ezhuvnelippu, where the deity is mounted on a majestic peacock vehicle and paraded around the temple premises accompanied by traditional music, drums and Thalappoli rituals. The Manjalpodi Abhishekam or turmeric powder anointing, adds a vivid ceremonial touch and reflects centuries-old devotional practices.
The festival also emphasizes community participation inviting devotees to join in the rituals, offer prayers and partake in the distribution of Mahaprasadam. Families, children and elderly devotees alike find this event deeply enriching fostering a sense of unity, devotion and cultural heritage.
