2026 മീനമാസ ആയില്യം കുമാരനല്ലൂർ ദേവീ ക്ഷേത്രം കോട്ടയം | Meenamaasa Ayilyam 2026 Kumaranalloor Devi Temple Kottayam
The Meenamaasa Ayilyam festival is a significant observance at the historic Kumaranalloor Devi Temple also known as Uranma Devaswam located in Kottayam. This sacred event is dedicated to Sri Nagaraja and Nagayakshi, the serpent deities, and holds a special place in the hearts of devotees who seek divine blessings for prosperity, health and protection from negative influences.
Ayilyam, one of the important star days in the Malayalam calendar is traditionally associated with serpent worship making this festival a unique blend of ritualistic devotion and spiritual significance.
During the festival, the temple rituals are conducted under the guidance of experienced priests, notably Brahmasree Raman Namboothiri of Karuttedath Mana, who officiates the ceremonies with great devotion and precision. The central rituals include Abhishekam, Manjalattam, Archana, Neyvilakku and Deepam lighting, all performed with utmost reverence. These rituals are believed to purify the mind and environment creating a spiritually charged atmosphere for devotees.
The temple opens its doors early in the morning allowing devotees to participate in the sacred ceremonies and receive blessings. The festival provides an opportunity for individuals and families to connect deeply with the divine, offer their prayers and perform vows for personal well being. Special attention is given to the worship of serpent deities, whose grace is sought for familial harmony, protection from illnesses and the removal of obstacles in life.
Beyond the rituals, Meenamaasa Ayilyam at Kumaranalloor Devi Temple is also a celebration of Kerala’s rich temple traditions, combining spiritual practices with the cultural essence of the region.
