The commencement of the celebrations is signified by Thrikodiyettu symbolizing the formal beginning of the utsavam and inviting divine presence into the temple premises. From this moment onward the temple atmosphere becomes filled with devotional fervour, chants and the rhythmic sounds of traditional temple instruments.
One of the most significant highlights of the festival is Kumbha Bharani Pongala, a powerful expression of devotion where women devotees prepare sacred offerings as an act of prayer and gratitude to the Goddess. This ritual is observed with intense faith and is believed to bring prosperity, protection and fulfilment of wishes.
