Lord Shiva, the supreme deity of Shaivism, is worshipped as the destroyer of evil and the embodiment of cosmic consciousness. Devotees seek his blessings for spiritual growth and liberation.
The Thidanadu Mahatemple serves as a sacred space where devotees gather to offer prayers, perform rituals, and seek blessings from the divine trinity of Shiva, Vishnu, and Narasimha Moorthy.
Festivals
The Temple has a number of festivals. The important ones are :
Mahashivaratri
Mahashivaratri, which translates to the Great Night of Shiva, is one of the most significant festivals celebrated at the Thidanadu MahaTemple. It usually falls in the Hindu month of Phalguna (February or March). Devotees observe a day-long fast and offer prayers to Lord Shiva throughout the night. Special rituals such as abhishekam, chanting of mantras, and performing aarti are conducted with great fervor.
Ayilyam Puja
Ayilyam Puja, observed during the Malayalam month of Kanni, is dedicated to the serpent deities, Nagaraja and Nagayakshi. This auspicious ritual is performed with great pomp and splendor on the Ayilyam day of Hindu months. The main offering during the puja is Noorum Palum, symbolizing devotion and gratitude towards the serpent gods. Devotees believe that by worshiping Naga Lekshmi Devi during this puja, they will receive blessings for resolving financial issues and attain wealth and prosperity.
