Lalam Mahadeva Temple Kottayam

Lalam Mahadeva Temple, located at the heart of Pala town in Kottayam district, is revered as one of the oldest Shiva temples in the region, affectionately known as Dakshina Kashi.

The temple also worships Upa Devatas such as Ganapathi, Ayyappa, Yogeshwaran, Rakshas, Yakshi, and Naga Devatas.

The temple features small gopurams on its east and south sides. Its annual 10-day festival, held in the Dhanu month, culminates with an arattu ceremony in the Meenachil River (Meenachilaru), while Maha Shivratri is also celebrated with great fervor.

Special arrangements are made by the temple management to facilitate the smooth conduct of the Vavubali Tharpanam, ensuring devotees can perform the ritual with devotion and reverence.
