Kozha Sree Narasimhaswami Temple Kottayam

Kozha Sree Narasimha Swami Temple is a sacred Hindu shrine located in Kozha, a village in Kuravilangad, Kottayam district, Kerala.

The temple is dedicated to Lord Narasimha, the fourth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. It is believed to house the only Swayambhu (self-manifested) idol of Narasimha in Kerala. According to legend, the idol was discovered in the forest by a vanavedan (a tribal hunter).

Devotees believe Lord Narasimha protects them from harm, and many testimonies speak of divine interventions. It is regarded as one of the oldest temples in Kerala devoted to Lord Narasimha.

Festivals

The Temple has a number of festivals. The important ones are :

Ramayana Maasa Acharanam

During Ramayana Maasa Acharanam, the temple observes daily Ramayana Parayanam (recitation of the Ramayana), especially in the evenings, invoking divine blessings. Special poojas and rituals are also conducted throughout the month to honor Lord Rama and promote spiritual reflection among devotees.

Thiru Ulsavam

Thiru Ulsavam held during the Kumbham month is a vibrant festival marked by traditional rituals and celebrations. It includes Thrikkodiyettu (flag hoisting), Arattu (holy bath of the deity), Pallivetta (symbolic royal hunt), and Ulsavabali (offering to the celestial spirits), drawing large gatherings of devotees.
