The temple features copper-covered roofs with 14 ornamental tops, and houses subordinate deities such as Bhagavathi, Sastha, Dakshinamoorthy, Ganapathy, and Yakshi, along with a separate shrine for Lord Krishna.

It is believed that Adi Sankaracharya composed the Soundarya Lahari during his stay at this revered temple.
Festivals
The Temple has a number of festivals. The important ones are :
Arattu Festival
Ettumanoor Mahadeva Temple celebrates the grand Arattu festival annually on Thiruvathira day, during the months of February - March. A major attraction is the display of the seven and a half golden elephants (ezharaponnaana), weighing nearly 13 kilograms, which draws large crowds on the 8th and 10th days of the festival. These golden elephant figures were a royal offering by a Travancore Maharaja to the temple.
Thulabharam
Thulabharam is one of the significant rituals performed at Ettumanoor Mahadeva Temple. Devotees offer this ritual as a token of gratitude for blessings received from the deity. In this practice, the person—often a child or adult—is weighed on a scale against offerings such as gold, fruits, or other items pledged to the deity.
