Surrounded by serene landscapes, it serves as a spiritual hub for devotees seeking blessings, healing, and divine grace.
Pathinonnu Garudan (പതിനൊന്ന് ഗരുഡൻ)
A grand and rare offering performed to Goddess Bhadrakali. The ritual involves presenting eleven Garudan figures or symbolic items, each representing divine protection, courage, and fulfillment of vows. Historically, it was the first major vazhipadu offered by the local ruler during the temple’s early consecration. Devotees believe it grants blessings for victory over enemies, success in ventures, and protection from evil forces.
Kalamkarikkal (കലാംകരിക്കൽ)
A ritual in which intricate kalams (sacred floor drawings, often of Bhadrakali) are created with colored powders, rice, and flowers. Special pujas and chants are performed before the Kalam. It symbolizes invoking the Goddess into a vibrant form, bringing her presence into the space. It’s believed to remove obstacles, grant prosperity, and ensure spiritual upliftment.
Nadaguruthi (നടഗുരുതി)
A powerful fire offering where a mixture of water, turmeric, lime, and other sacred ingredients is poured onto burning embers. It is performed to pacify the Goddess and remove negative energies or doshas. Many devotees undertake this vazhipadu for protection from accidents, relief from fear, and resolution of family disputes.
Chuttuvilakku (ചുറ്റുവിളക്ക്)
A devotional lighting of rows of oil lamps around the sanctum sanctorum. The sight of hundreds of glowing lamps around the Goddess is spiritually uplifting. This offering is believed to bring light into the devotee’s life, removing darkness and ignorance, and ensuring health, harmony, and prosperity.
Thulabharam (തുലാഭാരം)
A traditional offering where the devotee sits on one side of a balance scale and offers items such as grains, fruits, jaggery, coins, or even gold equal to their weight. It is usually performed in fulfillment of a vow after a wish is granted. This act signifies surrender to the Goddess and gratitude for her blessings.
