The festival is dedicated to Lord Bala Subrahmanya Swamy revered as the divine protector and remover of obstacles and is marked by a series of sacred rituals, processions and cultural events that showcase the temple’s rich heritage.
During the festival, the temple premises are adorned with colorful decorations, traditional lamps and floral arrangements creating a serene yet festive ambiance. The celebrations begin with special poojas and homams invoking the blessings of the deity for prosperity, health and well being of the devotees. One of the festival's most captivating features is the Thalappoli procession where women and children carry beautifully decorated lamps and offerings adding to the spiritual vibrancy of the occasion.
Another highlight is the Nedumkuthira procession featuring life sized effigies of horses carried by devotees in a symbolic display of devotion and valor. Accompanied by traditional percussion ensembles, Nagaswaram performances and Shingari Melam, these processions captivate onlookers and enhance the ceremonial grandeur. Devotional music, classical dance performances and stage programs are organized throughout the festival providing a perfect blend of spirituality and cultural entertainment.
The festival also emphasizes community participation and charity with Annadanam provided to thousands of devotees, reflecting the temple’s commitment to social and spiritual welfare. Devotees experience a deep sense of unity, faith and celebration as they participate in rituals, witness the colorful processions and immerse themselves in the sacred ambiance.
