The Makarabharani Thrikkodiyettu Mahotsavam & Thottampattu 2026 is one of the most spiritually significant annual festivals celebrated at the Sree Rudra Bhayankari Devi Temple, Attuvassery, near Kottarakkara in Kollam district of Kerala.
Dedicated to Goddess Rudra Bhayankari, a powerful manifestation of the Divine Mother, the festival reflects centuries old ritual traditions, deep rooted faith and the vibrant cultural heritage of the region.
This sacred celebration is observed during the auspicious Makarabharani period, a time considered highly powerful for Devi worship. The festival begins with traditional preparatory rituals and ceremonial processions that invoke divine blessings for the devotees and the surrounding land. Thrikkodiyettu, the ceremonial hoisting of the sacred flag marks the formal commencement of the festival and symbolizes the presence of the deity among the devotees throughout the festival days.
