മകയിരം തിരുനാൾ മഹോത്സവം 2026 തിരുവട്ടൂർ ശ്രീ ഭദ്രകാളി ദേവി ക്ഷേത്രം കൊല്ലം | Makayiram Thirunal Mahotsavam2026 Thiruvattur Sree Bhadrakali Devi Temple Kollam
The Makayiram Thirunal Mahotsavam 2026 at Thiruvattur Sree Bhadrakali Devi Temple, Kollam is one of the most revered and vibrant temple festivals in Kerala attracting devotees from across the state and beyond.
The festival is held annually in the Malayalam month of Makaram, coinciding with the Makayiram star, which is considered highly auspicious for worshipping Bhadrakali Devi, the fierce and protective mother goddess who is believed to safeguard devotees and remove negative energies.
The festivities begin with the Saptaha Jnana Yajnam, a seven day spiritual program from January 20 to 27, 2026, where sacred recitations from the Sreemad Bhagavatam are conducted under the guidance of the temple priests. The recitations are accompanied by traditional rituals, homams, and offerings, fostering spiritual upliftment among devotees. Special arrangements are made for devotees to participate in the yajnam including Vishnu Sahasranama chanting, Bhagavatam parayanam and daily devotional discourses which are aimed at deepening understanding of the scriptures and devotion to the goddess.
Following the Saptaha, the Thiru-Utsavam is held on January 28 and 29, 2026 featuring a grand celebration with colorful processions, cultural programs and community offerings. Traditional art forms such as Bharatanatyam, Kathakali, Nrittsandhya, and devotional music performances enrich the festival atmosphere. The temple premises are beautifully decorated, and devotees take part in annadanam and deepa aradhana as acts of devotion and service.
