The Thiruvathira Mahotsavam 2026 at Thrikkadavoor Sree Mahadevar Temple, Kollam is one of the most revered and awaited temple festivals in the region celebrated with deep devotion and traditional fervor.
This annual festival is held from 1201 Dhanu 17, 18 and 19 corresponding to January 1, 2 and 3, 2026. Organized jointly by the Thrikkadavoor Sree Mahadevar Temple Advisory Committee and the Thrikkadavoor Seva Sangham the festival showcases the rich cultural and spiritual heritage of Kerala.
The festivities at the temple unfold with a series of elaborate rituals and sacred poojas, meticulously conducted according to the age old traditions that have been preserved and passed down through generations. Each ceremony is performed with deep devotion and precision, reflecting the rich spiritual heritage of the temple. Devotees from Kollam and the surrounding regions travel in large numbers to be a part of these auspicious events, offering prayers and seeking the divine blessings of Lord Shiva for prosperity, health, and overall well-being.
The celebrations reach their zenith on the final day, 1201 Dhanu 19 with the Thiruvathira Sadya a grand and sumptuous feast served to hundreds of devotees. This sacred meal is accompanied by Lakshadeepam the ceremonial lighting of countless lamps, which fills the temple premises with a golden ethereal glow creating a truly mesmerizing and spiritually uplifting atmosphere.
